Plantaginaceae is the botanical name for the plantain family.
This family includes many popular plants, such as the ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata) shown below. And the slender speedwell (Veronica filiformis) shown above.
I have found different information about how many genera and species belong to the plantain family. According to KEW there are 107 genera and about 2000 species.
Members of the plantain family have adapted to very different habitats. They grow on terrestrial, aquatic and submerged habitats, as shrubs, herbs, perennials or annuals.
Some are edible, others are used as medicinal or ornamental plants.
